The Executive Bodies of the Senior Staff Association (SSA) and the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU), Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) Division, have petitioned the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, demanding clarification on the organisation’s alleged involvement in activities surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the administrative status of two staff members and outstanding staff allowances and provident fund arrears.

In a letter dated October 14, 2026, signed by Reginald Malm, President of the Senior Staff Association, and Osman Ajedi, Divisional Chairman of the GTA Union, the two staff bodies said growing concerns and agitation among employees over recent administrative decisions and operational developments had necessitated a meeting to collate members’ grievances and identify issues requiring urgent attention.

The associations said their request is intended to secure clear, transparent and timely responses to matters they believe could affect staff morale, organisational accountability and industrial harmony within the Authority.

They have consequently called for a formal engagement with the Chief Executive Officer and management, involving staff at both the head office and regional offices, within five working days of receipt of the letter.

One of the major concerns raised by the staff associations relates to the Ghana Tourism Authority’s reported involvement in activities connected to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, particularly visa facilitation, partnerships and the allocation of opportunities to individuals associated with the organisation.

The associations said discussions circulating across various media platforms had raised questions about the Authority’s involvement in the arrangements.

To promote transparency and dispel speculation, they have requested clarification on the nature of the Authority’s participation and the processes governing its engagements.

Specifically, the staff bodies want management to explain the procurement procedures and partnerships associated with the World Cup-related activities.

They are also seeking information on visa slots and engagements with embassies, including the Authority’s role in any arrangements connected to visa facilitation.

Another issue requiring clarification is the allocation of opportunities to members of the Authority’s board, management and staff.

The associations want management to explain how such opportunities, where applicable, are distributed and what criteria guide the selection of beneficiaries.

They have further asked the Authority to clarify its relationship with Tribe Culture Fest, including the nature of its involvement in the event.

The staff bodies did not establish any wrongdoing in the letter but said the questions required official responses to address concerns among employees and promote accountability.

The associations have also raised concerns about developments surrounding the employment and subsequent dismissal of Mr Bright Asempa Tsadey and Mr Sadat Sena Abdulai.

According to the letter, the matter has generated considerable concern among staff, prompting calls for management to provide a comprehensive explanation of the circumstances surrounding the two individuals.

The staff bodies are seeking clarification on the employment and administrative status of both men, including the decisions that led to their respective employment outcomes.

They have also requested information concerning allegations relating to what the letter describes as the “USA visa scandal”.

The associations are also seeking a copy of Mr Tsadey’s appointment letter, alongside clarification of the official roles and responsibilities assigned to the two individuals.

The request suggests that the staff bodies want management to explain the administrative procedures followed in the appointments and subsequent dismissals, as well as the official duties performed by the individuals.

The payment of outstanding staff allowances and provident fund arrears constitutes another major issue raised in the petition.

The associations acknowledged the continued commitment and dedication of employees in carrying out their responsibilities despite delays in the payment of outstanding entitlements.

However, they said the prolonged non-payment had become a source of concern and was adversely affecting staff morale, particularly amid prevailing economic challenges.

They have therefore requested a comprehensive update on all outstanding staff allowances and provident fund arrears owed by the Authority.

The staff bodies have also urged management to ensure that the outstanding payments are made promptly when due.

Although the letter does not specify the total amount owed, the period covered by the arrears or the number of affected employees, the request highlights the staff associations’ concerns about welfare and the timely fulfilment of the Authority’s obligations to its employees.

The associations believe that resolving the payment concerns would help improve staff morale and strengthen relations between management and employees.

In view of what they described as the importance and urgency of the issues raised, the SSA and the GTA Division of the PSWU have requested a formal meeting with the Chief Executive Officer and management within five working days of receipt of the petition.

The proposed engagement is expected to involve all staff, including those at the Authority’s regional offices and its head office.

The associations said the meeting would provide an opportunity for management to address the concerns raised and offer the necessary clarifications on the various administrative and operational issues.

They emphasised their commitment to constructive dialogue, transparency, accountability and the maintenance of a harmonious working environment within the Ghana Tourism Authority.

The associations expressed confidence that the Chief Executive Officer and management would give the petition the urgent attention it deserves, stressing that addressing the concerns was important for staff welfare, the Authority’s institutional credibility and its continued effective functioning.
