The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has inspected ongoing Ghana Army Legacy projects at Teshie to assess construction progress and ensure the timely completion of the facilities.

The CDS was accompanied by generals and other senior officers during the inspection, which forms part of efforts to monitor the development of modern military infrastructure to strengthen administration, enhance operational readiness and provide a conducive working environment for personnel.

During the visit, the Project and Service Officer at Army Headquarters, Colonel Albert Tekyi, briefed the delegation on the progress of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Legacy Project at Whistler Barracks in Teshie.

According to Col. Tekyi, construction of the three-storey building was approximately 75 per cent complete.

He outlined the various stages of the project, from excavation and foundation works to the construction of the structural framework, plastering and tiling.

He expressed confidence that CGM Company Limited, the project contractor, would complete the remaining works within the stipulated timeframe. Finishing works are expected to be undertaken in the coming weeks.

In his remarks, Lt. Gen. Agyapong commended the engineers of the 49 Engineers Regiment and CGM Company Limited for their hard work, dedication and sacrifices towards the successful execution of the project.

He encouraged them to maintain the current pace of work to ensure that the facilities are completed within the agreed deadlines.

The project is expected to strengthen the Ghana Army’s institutional capacity, improve its working environment and support the effective discharge of its constitutional responsibilities in safeguarding national security.
