The Ghana Police Service has arrested 41 suspects during an intelligence-led operation targeting alleged criminal and narcotics-related activities at Lapaz and Chantan in the Greater Accra Region.

The operation was conducted by the Special Operations Team (SOT) of the Ghana Police Service on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at approximately 12:00 noon.

According to the Police, the exercise was aimed at targeting criminal activities and suspected narcotics-related operations in the two communities as part of efforts to address crime and enhance public safety.

The suspects arrested comprise 35 males and six females.

During the operation, police officers conducted searches on the suspects and within the areas covered by the exercise, leading to the retrieval of quantities of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances.

The suspected substances have become a key focus of the ongoing investigations, as police work to establish their source, ownership and intended use.

The Police Service confirmed that all 41 suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.

Investigators are expected to establish the individual roles of the suspects, as well as determine whether any of them can be linked to the suspected narcotic substances recovered during the operation.

The Police have indicated that investigations remain ongoing and that appropriate legal action will be taken against any suspect found culpable.

However, the authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects or provided further details regarding the quantities of suspected narcotics retrieved during the exercise.

The operation forms part of police efforts to address suspected criminal activities through intelligence-led interventions.

The outcome of the investigations is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the arrests and determine whether the suspects will face formal charges.
