The Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has led the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jomoro, Benedict Boadi, to meet with the Minister for Communication, Samuel Nartey George, to discuss the status of network poles mounted in several communities across the municipality.

The meeting, held earlier today, focused on addressing challenges associated with the existing network poles and accelerating efforts to improve telecommunications infrastructure and expand network coverage in the affected communities.

The communities discussed at the meeting include Ellenda, Nuba, Ellonyi, Twenen, Ebonloa, New Kabenlasuazo, Adusuazo, Twearkor No. 2, Jaway and Mpaesem.

Following the discussions, the Minister directed engineers from the Ministry to meet with the MCE on Wednesday to reassess the network poles already mounted in the affected communities.

The reassessment is intended to establish the necessary technical requirements and facilitate the connection of the existing infrastructure to the national grid, paving the way for improved network connectivity in the beneficiary communities.

The intervention follows concerns about the status of the mounted poles and the need to ensure that the infrastructure translates into improved telecommunications services for residents.

In a further development, the Minister assured the MP and the MCE that arrangements were underway to mount network poles in three additional communities—Nsuano, Ghana Nungua and Fawoman—before the end of November 2026.

The planned extension follows a request by Ms Affo-Toffey, who is also the Deputy Minister for Transport, as part of efforts to expand telecommunications infrastructure to more communities within the Jomoro Municipality.

Engineers are expected to visit the municipality to conduct preliminary assessments and determine the necessary coordinates ahead of the commencement of the project in the three additional communities.

The technical assessments are expected to provide the groundwork for extending network infrastructure and guide the implementation process.

The development is seen as an important step towards addressing telecommunications infrastructure gaps in Jomoro, where improved network coverage is essential for communication, education, business operations and access to digital services.

Reliable telecommunications services can also support economic activities, improve access to information and strengthen connectivity for residents, particularly those in communities where network access remains a challenge.

The MP and the MCE are expected to continue engaging the relevant authorities to ensure that the planned assessments and infrastructure extensions progress towards implementation.

Their offices have reaffirmed their commitment to working with the Ministry and other relevant stakeholders to improve telecommunications infrastructure and extend network coverage across the municipality.

The reassessment of existing network poles, alongside the proposed extension to Nsuano, Ghana Nungua and Fawoman, forms part of ongoing efforts to improve connectivity and support development in communities across Jomoro.
