The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into the death of a 33-year-old man, Enoch Abrokwa, who allegedly died after being stabbed by his 19-year-old girlfriend, Emmanuella Asante, during a disagreement at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.

The suspect has been arrested and put before a court, which remanded her into police custody to reappear on November 3, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Accra Regional Police Command on October 21, 2026, the incident occurred at the deceased’s business premises on Friday, October 9, 2026.

The police said preliminary investigations suggested that a disagreement broke out between the deceased and the suspect before the confrontation allegedly escalated into violence.

During the incident, Ms Asante allegedly stabbed Mr Abrokwa in the chest with a piece of broken glass, leaving him with a serious injury.

The police disclosed that Mr Abrokwa was initially rushed to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina for medical attention following the incident.

He was subsequently referred to the Ridge Hospital, where he underwent surgery for a deep wound that affected his intestines.

Despite the medical intervention, the 33-year-old man died on October 14, 2026, while receiving treatment.

His death has since prompted further police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alleged stabbing.

The Accra Regional Police Command said Ms Asante was arrested on October 10, 2026, a day after the alleged incident.

According to the police, the suspect was brought to the police by the complainant and three other individuals.

The police further stated that Ms Asante reportedly admitted to stabbing the deceased and remained in police custody as investigations continued.

She was subsequently put before a court and remanded into police custody.

The court has scheduled her next appearance for November 3, 2026.

The police have not disclosed further details about the disagreement that allegedly preceded the incident.

Following the incident, the Accra Regional Police Command urged members of the public to exercise restraint and resolve disagreements peacefully rather than resorting to violence.

The command also called on the public to cooperate with investigators as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

It assured that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law as investigations progressed.

The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against the suspect have yet to be determined by a court.
