Security has been significantly bolstered in the community of Gbeniyiri following a series of retaliatory attacks between factions of the Brikos and Fulani communities.
In an effort to restore order and forestall further violence, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has deployed a specialized team to the area.
This tactical unit, composed of elite intelligence officers and seasoned investigators, is currently working in tandem with the Savannah Regional Police Command to stabilize the situation and maintain peace.
While regional police authorities confirmed that the situation is currently under control and calm has been restored, they emphasized that the investigation into the recent unrest remains a top priority.
”The Regional Command would like to assure the public that calm has since been restored,” stated ASP Richard Osei Yaw, Staff Officer.
“Efforts are actively ongoing to identify, track down, and bring all perpetrators behind these attacks to justice.”
The deployment serves as a clear signal of the Police Service’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the region.
Residents in Gbeniyiri and surrounding areas are urged to remain law-abiding and to cooperate with security personnel as they continue their operations to uphold the rule of law.
