A movie project by Weezy Empire, featuring renowned Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin at Nzulezu, a tourist community in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region, has received a major boost and support from the Member of Parliament, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, and the Paramount Chief of Nsein Traditional Area, Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III, who is also the Vice President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs.

While Madam Dorcas Affo-Toffey extended financial support to the ongoing production of “A Journey To Africa”, the chief paid a surprise visit to actor Kwadwo Nkansah, and the cast was on the set of his ongoing movie production.

The MP, in a gesture aimed at supporting the production, sent the Jomoro Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Benedict Boadi, to the movie set at Nzulezu with an undisclosed cash donation to assist the team as work on the highly anticipated film continues.

Currently, top Nigerian actors and actresses such as Patience Ozokwor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Zubby Michael, Charles Awurum, Mike Ezuruonye, and Destiny Etiko are in Ghana, Nzulezu, to be specific, to star in Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin’s new international movie project, Journey to Africa.

The donation by the Jomoro MP, Madam Affo-Toffey, who is also the Deputy Transport Minister, is seen as a show of support for the Ghanaian film industry and the creative efforts of local filmmakers who continue to invest in projects that showcase Ghanaian talent, culture and tourism.

The production of “A Journey To Africa” has drawn attention as LilWin and his team work to bring the project to life.

The movie, produced by Weezy Empire, is expected to contribute to the growing body of Ghanaian cinematic productions seeking to engage audiences through compelling storytelling and quality filmmaking.

Nzulezu, a unique stilt settlement in the Jomoro Municipality, is widely recognised for its distinctive setting and cultural significance.

Its inclusion as a filming location offers an opportunity to showcase the area’s natural beauty and heritage to audiences beyond the local community.

Madam Affo-Toffey’s gesture also highlights the potential role of public officials in supporting creative initiatives that can promote local destinations and create opportunities for communities.

Although the exact amount of the donation was not disclosed, the support is expected to provide assistance to the production team as filming progresses.

The development comes at a time when Ghana’s creative industry continues to seek greater investment and collaboration from both public and private stakeholders to strengthen local film production and expand its reach.

As production continues, attention will be on the completion of A Journey To Africa and its eventual release to audiences.

The donation by the Jomoro MP adds another layer of local support to the project, underscoring the importance of collaboration between political leaders and the creative arts sector in promoting Ghanaian talent and showcasing the country’s cultural attractions.

The Jomoro Municipal Chief Executive, Benedict Boadi, speaking on behalf of the MP, said the MP is ready to support Lil Win and the entire movie industry, especially Nzulezu in Jomoro.

The surprised visit by Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III was to provide an opportunity for the traditional ruler to interact with the actor and his production team, commend their creative efforts and share his thoughts on the development of Ghana’s film industry.

During the encounter, Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III reportedly recommended IK and Rukaya for consideration in the ongoing production, highlighting his interest in seeing talented Ghanaian actors given opportunities to contribute to local film projects.

The traditional ruler’s recommendations add an interesting dimension to the production, as the team continues work on its movie project, A Journey To Africa, under Weezy Empire.

Beyond his support for the current production, Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III also pledged his prayers for Lil Win’s proposed movie about Ghana’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, to become a reality.

The proposed project, if realised, could offer an opportunity to revisit the life, leadership and historical legacy of one of Africa’s most influential political figures through the medium of film.

The chief’s pledge of prayers signals his goodwill towards Lil Win’s ambition to undertake the project and reflects the potential role of traditional authorities in encouraging creative initiatives that promote Ghana’s history and cultural identity.

The ongoing production at Nzulezo also places the spotlight on one of Ghana’s distinctive cultural and tourism destinations.

Located in the Jomoro Municipality, Nzulezo is a historic settlement built on stilts over Lake Tadane. Its unique architecture and natural surroundings make it an attractive location for film productions seeking to capture Ghana’s cultural heritage and scenic beauty.

Filming in the community offers an opportunity to introduce the location to a wider audience while drawing attention to the tourism potential of the Western Region.

Lil Win’s presence at the location has brought together the creative arts and the cultural heritage of the area, with the chief’s visit further highlighting the importance of community engagement in the development of Ghanaian filmmaking.

Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III’s visit and recommendations underscore the value of collaboration between traditional leaders and members of the creative arts industry.

As Ghanaian filmmakers continue to explore stories rooted in the country’s history, culture and contemporary experiences, support from traditional authorities can help encourage productions that celebrate local identity and inspire audiences.

For Lil Win and his team at Weezy Empire, the ongoing production of A Journey To Africa represents another creative undertaking, while the proposed film about Dr Kwame Nkrumah points to a possible future project with historical significance.

With the chief expressing his goodwill and pledging prayers for the proposed Nkrumah film, attention will now be on the progress of the current production and whether Lil Win’s ambition to bring the story of Ghana’s founding president to the big screen will eventually materialise.
