The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wassa Amenfi East, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah, has presented a significant donation of food items to the local Muslim community to support their observance of the holy month of Ramadan.
The donation, made on behalf of the Municipal Assembly, is intended to assist various Muslim groups within the municipality as they undergo their month long period of fasting and prayer.
According to Hon. Nana Ebbah, the gesture serves to recognize the spiritual importance of Ramadan and to ease the burden on community members making sacrifices during this period.
He noted that the initiative is part of the Assembly’s corporate social responsibility, funded through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) to support major religious and social occasions.
The donated items included 130 bags of 50kg rice,
39 bags of sugar and
35 cartons of milk.
The MCE took the opportunity to commend the national government’s swift disbursement of the Common Fund, which he stated was instrumental in allowing the Assembly to carry out such essential community support.
Describing Wassa Amenfi East as a community with a significant Muslim population, Nana Ebbah emphasized that supporting the faithful during Ramadan was both fitting and necessary.
He further expressed his gratitude to the Muslim community for their “continued prayers and goodwill for Ghana and the people of Amenfi East.”
”I wish all Muslims a peaceful and blessed fasting period.
We pray for unity, peace, and prosperity for the residents of Wassa Akropong and the entire municipality,” he added.
Receiving the items on behalf of the community, Sheikh Bilal described the donation as “heart-touching” and timely.
He noted that the provisions would play a vital role in helping families break their daily fast.
Sheikh Bilal assured the MCE that the items would be distributed fairly across the community.
He concluded by pledging continued prayers for the peace and growth of the Amenfi East Municipality and its leadership.
