The Wenchi Municipal Health Directorate has confirmed a total of 102 tuberculosis (TB) cases recorded throughout the 2025 calendar year.
Mr. George Agyemang, the Acting Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) for the Wenchi Municipality, disclosed these figures Tuesday, March 24, during an interview with Nana Anfreh Damanata on Radio West Africa’s Adeakyeabia program.
The briefing coincided with the global commemoration of World TB Day.
Mr. Agyemang provided a breakdown of the recovery and mortality rates for the municipality, stressing that over 80% of diagnosed patients were successfully treated and cured, while approximately 6.7% of the recorded cases resulted in fatalities.
While the high recovery rate is encouraging, Mr. Agyemang emphasized that early intervention is the most critical factor in saving lives.
He urged members of the public to seek immediate medical attention if they experience persistent symptoms, noting that early detection makes TB a manageable and curable condition.
To bridge the gap in healthcare delivery, the Acting Director appealed to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and philanthropists to bolster their support.
”We need increased investment to meet our national goal of identifying and treating all estimated cases,” Agyemang stated.
“Public-private partnerships are essential to ensuring no one is left behind in our fight against TB.”
The GHS continues to provide screening and treatment services across the municipality as part of its ongoing mission to eradicate the disease.
