The University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate has abruptly cancelled a scheduled event at the VG Sports Complex tonight, Saturday, March 28, 2026, citing both a court injunction and alleged misrepresentation by the organizers.
The decision was communicated in an official statement signed by Augustine Amissare on behalf of the Director, addressed to the event’s lead organizer.

The University claims the justification provided by the organizers to secure the venue proved to be “inaccurate” upon further review.
A legal restraining order has been served, specifically prohibiting the use of the facility for this particular programme.
While the specific nature of the event was not disclosed in the statement, the University acted swiftly to shut down operations just hours before the Saturday night start time.
The University has initiated a structured refund process for the affected party.
50% of the booking fee has already been returned via MTN MoMo while the remaining 50% is being withheld pending the total vacation of the premises.
The Directorate emphasized that the final payment is strictly conditional.
The organizers must dismantle all existing setups and ensure the facility is returned to its original state before the remaining funds are released.
”The remaining 50% will be refunded promptly once you have dismantled your setup and vacated the space, subject to the condition that the facility is left in the same state as it was handed over to you,” the statement read
As of Saturday evening, the Directorate has expressed apologies for the inconvenience but remains firm on the cancellation.
It remains unclear if the organizers intend to challenge the court injunction or seek an alternative venue at this late hour.
