The long-abandoned Nuba Kindergarten classroom block in the Jomoro Municipality is finally set for completion after more than six years, following the intervention of Dorcas Affo Toffey, Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Deputy Minister for Transport.
The announcement was made by Benedict Boadi, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jomoro, during an inspection tour of the project site.
According to the MCE, the classroom block project was originally initiated by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Nuba community but stalled for years, leaving pupils and teachers without the needed educational infrastructure.
Hon. Benedict Boadi revealed that Hon. Dorcas Affo Toffey has secured a new contractor to continue and complete the project within two months in line with the contractual agreement.
Beyond completing the classroom block, the project is also being upgraded with additional modern educational facilities aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions for children in the community.
The upgraded facility will include washrooms, electricity extension, ceiling fans, a flat-screen television, and other teaching and learning resources that were not part of the original community-led initiative.
The MCE explained that the inspection exercise was conducted together with the Municipal Engineer and the contractor on behalf of the MP, who is currently on official assignment in China.
Residents and education stakeholders in the area are expected to benefit significantly from the completion of the project, which is seen as a major boost to early childhood education in Nuba and surrounding communities.
Authorities believe the improved learning environment will help lay a stronger educational foundation for children in the area while contributing to the overall development of the municipality.
