Six students of the Offinso Technical Institute (O.T.I) in the Ashanti Region are currently receiving medical treatment following a violent confrontation between some students and suspected Zongo youths in Offinso.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, on the school campus, just hours after members of the Muslim community in the area had observed Eid prayers.
According to a teacher at the school, who spoke on condition of anonymity, tensions had been brewing between the two groups for some time before the situation escalated into violence.
The teacher explained that the clash turned chaotic, forcing several students to flee the campus for safety as panic spread across the school premises.
He disclosed that six injured students were immediately rushed to St. Patrick Hospital at Offinso Maase, where they are currently receiving treatment and responding positively.
“The situation became very intense and frightening for many students. Some of them had to run away from campus during the disturbances, and as we speak, a number of them are yet to be accounted for,” the teacher stated.
He further alleged that the suspected Zongo youths invaded parts of the campus and caused extensive damage to school properties.
According to him, glass windows, doors, and other facilities at both the boys’ and girls’ dormitories were vandalized during the attack.
The residence of the housemaster was also reportedly damaged.
The incident has since been reported to the police, who are expected to investigate the matter and help restore calm in the area.
Meanwhile, school authorities together with some leaders from the Zongo community have reportedly initiated discussions aimed at easing tensions and finding a peaceful resolution to prevent further disturbances.
The development has left many parents and residents worried about the safety of students on campus, as authorities work to restore normalcy following the violent confrontation.
