The National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has commended the NPP Ottawa Chapter for facilitating a high-level engagement between NPP Members of Parliament and members of the Ghanaian community in Canada during an ongoing parliamentary leadership programme in Ottawa.
In a statement shared on social media, Nana B disclosed that executives of the NPP Ottawa Chapter, together with leaders of the Ghanaian community in Canada, met with a delegation of NPP Minority MPs currently participating in a six-day leadership and parliamentary training programme in the Canadian capital.
According to him, the interaction provided an important platform for discussions on governance, leadership, parliamentary practice, and the role of the Ghanaian diaspora in national development.
The parliamentary training programme was organised by the NPP Parliamentary Leadership in collaboration with the African Centre for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA) and Laurentian University, Canada.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening the capacity of legislators through exposure to international best practices in parliamentary administration, leadership, and democratic governance.
Nana B described the engagement as fruitful and insightful, noting that it offered an opportunity for meaningful exchanges between the MPs and members of the Ghanaian community in Canada.
He also commended the leadership of the NPP Ottawa Chapter for successfully coordinating the meeting.
Special recognition was given to Dr. Shahada Alolo, Chairperson of the NPP Ottawa Chapter, and her executive team for their efforts in bringing together the parliamentarians and diaspora leaders.
“Kudos to the Chapter executives, led by Dr. Shahada Alolo, Chairperson of the NPP Ottawa Chapter, for facilitating this meaningful engagement,” Nana B stated.
The meeting underscores the growing role of the Ghanaian diaspora in contributing to national discourse and strengthening ties between Ghana’s political leadership and citizens living abroad.
It also highlights ongoing efforts by the NPP to deepen engagement with its overseas branches and supporters while promoting leadership development within its parliamentary caucus.
The six-day programme in Ottawa is expected to provide participating MPs with valuable insights into contemporary parliamentary practices and leadership approaches that could enhance legislative effectiveness and governance outcomes in Ghana.
