The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an expedited process to replace Ghanaian passports that were lost or damaged during the recent devastating floods that affected several parts of the country.
In a press release issued on Friday, July 3, 2026, the Ministry expressed deep sympathy to victims of the floods, which have resulted in loss of lives, destruction of property and displacement of many residents across affected communities.
According to the Ministry, the scale of the disaster has left many people stranded, with some losing important personal documents including passports.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends its deepest sympathies to all persons affected by this week’s devastating floods in many parts of Ghana,” the statement said.
The Ministry further acknowledged the catastrophic consequences of the floods and conveyed condolences to families who lost their loved ones during the disaster.
“As a Ministry, we express strong solidarity with all our affected compatriots during this difficult period,” the statement added.
To support victims in their recovery process, the Ministry announced that it has decided to implement a fast-track replacement exercise for all Ghanaian passports that were either lost or damaged as a direct result of the floods.
The special intervention is expected to ease the burden on affected persons who may require their travel documents urgently for identification, travel or official purposes.
The Ministry has therefore urged all affected individuals to contact its dedicated support line from Friday, July 3 to Friday, July 17, 2026.
Affected persons are required to call 055 936 8563 and provide details including their names, dates of birth and gender exactly as captured in their lost or damaged passports.
Callers are also expected to provide active phone numbers for easy follow-up and communication.
The Ministry assured the public that all reported cases would be processed swiftly, with the replacement passports expected to be issued within one week after verification.
Officials say the intervention forms part of broader efforts by state institutions to support flood victims and help restore normalcy in affected communities.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government’s ongoing recovery efforts while standing in solidarity with all Ghanaians impacted by the floods.
