The Greater Accra Coordinators of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), the student wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have thrown their support behind businessman and philanthropist Austin Emmanuel Anim, popularly known as “Supremo,” in his bid to become the party’s Greater Accra Regional Organiser.
The endorsement comes ahead of the NPP’s upcoming regional executive elections, with the coordinators expressing confidence that Anim possesses the leadership, organisational skills, and grassroots mobilisation capacity needed to reposition the party and reclaim lost parliamentary seats in the Greater Accra Region.
The youth leaders made their position known after paying a courtesy call on Anim at his office, where they pledged to campaign vigorously for his election.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Kwesi Ohene Bugyei, President of the TESCON chapter at the African University of Communication and Business (formerly AUCC), described Anim as a visionary leader who has demonstrated a strong commitment to empowering young people within the party.
According to him, the NPP’s declining electoral fortunes in Greater Accra highlight the urgent need for effective coordination and renewed grassroots mobilisation.

“We have seen his vision and preparedness to serve and support the party, especially in Greater Accra,” Ohene Bugyei said.
He noted that the NPP once held 21 of the region’s 35 parliamentary seats but attributed the party’s steady decline to internal misunderstandings and a lack of proper coordination.
“Because of misunderstanding and a lack of proper coordination within the party, we lost our seats to 16 in 2020, and as I speak now, we are left with only five parliamentary seats. If we have somebody like Supremo, who has declared his intention to contest for Regional Organiser, we will support him to win and help the party reclaim those seats in 2028,” he stated.
Ohene Bugyei further praised Anim’s commitment to reconnecting with the party’s youth base, claiming that many young members had felt neglected over the years.
He disclosed that Anim has outlined plans to revive youth participation by working closely with TESCON and creating opportunities for students and young professionals.
Among the initiatives outlined by the aspiring Regional Organiser are scholarship opportunities for TESCON members to support their education, as well as the establishment of a networking platform for former TESCON presidents.
According to Ohene Bugyei, the platform would help prepare members for future leadership roles and position them to access employment opportunities should the NPP return to power in the 2028 general election.
“He has promised to support TESCON members in their educational programmes by helping secure scholarships and also establish a common platform for former TESCON presidents so that, when the NPP wins power in 2028, he can lobby for job opportunities for us,” he said.
While expressing confidence in Anim’s leadership, Ohene Bugyei stressed that TESCON members would hold him accountable if elected.
“We believe and trust Supremo will deliver, but we will not allow anyone to take TESCON members for granted. If he wins and disappoints us, we will not forgive him,” he cautioned.
Responding to the endorsement, Austin Emmanuel Anim expressed appreciation to the TESCON coordinators for their confidence in his leadership and pledged to justify their trust if elected.
He reaffirmed his determination to strengthen the party’s structures across Greater Accra, improve grassroots mobilisation, and work tirelessly to help the NPP regain political power in the 2028 general election.

“I will work hard with the mandate that will be given to me as Greater Accra Regional Organiser to bring the NPP back to power and reclaim the parliamentary seats we have lost in the region,” Anim said.
He also reaffirmed his belief in the leadership of the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and pledged to work closely with him, the national executives, and other party stakeholders to secure victory in the next general election.
Anim assured party members that his leadership would be rooted in selfless service, promising to place the interests of the party, particularly the youth and TESCON, above personal ambition.
He said empowering young people and strengthening the party’s grassroots structures would remain central to his agenda as he seeks the mandate to serve as Greater Accra Regional Organiser.
