The Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom has announced it will commence the administration of the Oath of Affirmation and Scholarship Validation Exercise for all Government of Ghana-sponsored students studying in the UK.
The exercise, which forms part of measures to strengthen compliance and accountability in the administration of government scholarships, will run for one month from Thursday, August 13, 2026 to Friday, September 4, 2026.
In a statement issued by the High Commission, the exercise is being conducted pursuant to Section 31 of the Ghana Scholarships Authority Act, 2025 (Act 1149) and Section 11 of the Oaths Act, 1972 (NRCD 6).
The above two laws require beneficiaries of government scholarships studying outside Ghana to personally subscribe to an Oath of Affirmation before a designated officer of a Ghana Diplomatic Mission.
The High Commission said the exercise would also be used to validate scholarship records and to reaffirm beneficiaries’ commitment to return to Ghana upon completion of their studies, in accordance with the conditions of their awards.
To ensure accessibility, the Education Section of the High Commission will organise sessions at selected locations across the United Kingdom. Students have been advised to report to the venue closest to them on the scheduled date.
Further details on regional venues and appointment arrangements will be communicated directly to affected students in due course.
Students who wish to complete the exercise in London may do so at the Ghana High Commission, 104 Highgate Hill, London N5 6HE, strictly by appointment on Thursdays and Fridays between 1:00pm–2:00pm and 2:00pm–3:00pm.
The High Commission urged students to ensure all documentation is complete before attending their appointment to avoid delays in the validation process.
It reminded students that participation in the exercise is mandatory under Section 31 of Act 1149, and that breach of Section 31(1) may attract the consequences prescribed under Section 31(2) of the Act, including delay in payment of tuition fees.
