The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued 14 people involved in a road traffic accident along the Kpetoe–Sarakope stretch of the Accra–Aflao Highway in the Volta Region.
The accident occurred on Saturday, September 26, 2026, and involved a Hyundai H100 bus carrying 12 passengers and a Ford tractor with two occupants.
According to the GNFS, both vehicles were travelling from Kpetoe towards Aflao when the accident occurred.
Firefighters from the Kpetoe Fire Station were dispatched to the scene following reports of the crash.
Upon arrival, the firefighters undertook rescue operations and successfully extricated all 14 occupants from the vehicles.
The rescued persons were subsequently handed over to personnel from the National Ambulance Service and the Ghana Police Service for onward conveyance to the Ho Teaching Hospital, where they were to receive medical attention.
However, two of the accident victims—a male and a female—were subsequently confirmed dead at the hospital.
The GNFS did not immediately disclose the identities of the deceased or provide further details on the circumstances that led to the crash.
The incident has once again highlighted the need for motorists using the Accra–Aflao Highway and other major roads to exercise greater caution, particularly when overtaking.
The GNFS has therefore urged motorists to avoid improper overtaking and comply strictly with road safety regulations to help prevent avoidable crashes and loss of lives.
