The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) says investigations involving the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, are ongoing following his voluntary surrender to the anti-graft agency.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 2, 2026, EOCO said the MP voluntarily surrendered to the Office at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, as part of ongoing investigative proceedings.

According to EOCO, the investigative, procedural and operational processes concerning the suspect are still underway.

The Office further disclosed that Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah is cooperating with investigators as they work through the necessary processes and procedures.

“Suspect Nana Baffour Agyei Awuah is cooperating with the Office to continue with the necessary investigative processes and procedures,” EOCO said.

EOCO said it is mindful of the constitutional timeframes and procedural requirements governing the granting of bail and is working with the Office of the Attorney-General to bring the suspect before a court during the weekend.

The statement suggests that any decision on the MP’s bail will be addressed through the appropriate legal and judicial process.

EOCO, however, cautioned the public against reports circulating in the media that the MP had already been granted bail in the sum of GH¢50 million.

“The Office also wishes to urge the public to disregard media reports that the Office has granted the Suspect a GH¢50 million bail,” the statement said.

The clarification comes amid reports concerning the MP’s detention following his voluntary surrender to EOCO on Thursday.

The Manhyia South MP had been the subject of investigative proceedings by EOCO and reported himself to the agency as part of the process.

EOCO’s latest update indicates that the investigation remains active, with the Office continuing its engagement with the suspect and the Attorney-General’s Office ahead of a possible court appearance.

The agency has not disclosed the specific allegations or offences under investigation in its latest statement.

EOCO urged the public to rely on official information as the investigative and legal processes continue.
