The Ministry of Education has launched an urgent investigation into a series of disturbing viral videos depicting violent clashes between students in the Central Region.
In a strongly-worded statement released, Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, condemned the acts in the “strongest possible terms,” signaling a zero-tolerance approach to indiscipline within Ghana’s school system.
The fallout from the footage was immediate as the Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) was summoned to lead a high-level probe into the matter.
While the specific identities of the schools and students have not been officially released to the public, the Ministry confirmed that the perpetrators have already been narrowed down to two institutions within the Central Region.
”The Minister for Education and I take a very serious view of these acts of violence,” Dr. Apaak stated.
“Consequently, the culprits and perpetrators can expect the most severe sanctions.”
The Ministry is currently awaiting a formal report from the Director General to determine the next steps, which could include suspensions, dismissals, or legal intervention depending on the severity of the injuries and damage captured in the footage.
