A 28-year-old woman, identified as Monica Mawuse Bosso, has been found dead under suspicious circumstances at Kasoa Peace Town in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

Preliminary investigations by the Central East Regional Police Command indicate that the deceased may have been sexually assaulted and killed before her body was allegedly moved to the family compound and positioned in a manner intended to make the incident appear to be suicide.

Bosso was reportedly found kneeling beneath a mango tree in front of her family home with a rope around her neck, tied to a low and reportedly weak branch.

The unusual position in which the body was discovered reportedly raised immediate suspicion among residents and prompted the Police to commence investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to preliminary police findings, the deceased was found partially clothed, wearing only a shirt.

Her skirt and underwear had allegedly been forcibly removed and were recovered at the scene, together with her mobile phone.

Crime scene investigators are also reported to have identified indications consistent with forceful sexual penetration and collected suspected semen samples for forensic examination.

The Police are expected to rely on forensic analysis and the outcome of an autopsy to establish the precise cause and circumstances of Bosso’s death.

The preliminary findings have therefore raised suspicions that the deceased may have been sexually assaulted by more than one person before she was killed.

However, the identities of the alleged perpetrators and the exact sequence of events leading to her death have yet to be established.

Investigators are also examining a possible financial motive after preliminary inquiries revealed that GH¢2,000 was allegedly withdrawn fraudulently from Bosso’s Mobile Money (MoMo) account around the period of the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the withdrawal, including who allegedly accessed the account and how the transaction was authorised, form part of the ongoing investigation.

Police are expected to examine the victim’s phone and other available evidence as they work to establish whether the alleged withdrawal is connected to the killing.

The incident reportedly occurred at a particularly difficult time for the family, which had gathered to observe the one-week funeral rites of another relative.

The relative had reportedly died about two weeks earlier in a road accident along the Sagakope-Accra highway.

Instead of completing the mourning rites, the family was confronted with the death of Bosso, further deepening the grief within the household.

Esther Nyavor, a cousin of the deceased, expressed shock over the circumstances surrounding Bosso’s death and appealed to the authorities to ensure that the case is thoroughly investigated.

“We came together to mourn our late father, only to be hit by this unimaginable tragedy,” Nyavor said.

She described the circumstances as suspicious and urged the Police to identify and prosecute those responsible.

The Assemblyman for the Adam Nana Electoral Area, Frederick Kwabena Adasu, also expressed concern over the incident and described the alleged act as barbaric and unfortunate.

He extended his condolences to the bereaved family and assured residents that he would work with the Police and other relevant authorities to support efforts to apprehend and prosecute anyone found culpable.

The incident has also triggered concern among opinion leaders and residents, who are calling for heightened security in the area and a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the young woman’s death.

The Central East Regional Police Command has since commenced a full-scale homicide investigation into the case.

Bosso’s body has been deposited at the mortuary pending an autopsy, which is expected to provide crucial evidence regarding the cause of death and assist investigators in reconstructing what happened before her body was discovered.

Police investigations are ongoing, and the alleged sexual assault, killing, attempted staging of the scene as a suicide and the reported fraudulent withdrawal from the deceased’s MoMo account are all expected to form part of the inquiry.

Authorities have yet to announce any arrest or identify suspects in connection with the incident.

The Police are expected to use forensic evidence, witness statements, mobile phone records and financial transaction information to determine what happened and identify those responsible.
