Venna Abena Sekyi has declared her intention to contest for the position of Executive Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Achiase Constituency ahead of the party’s upcoming constituency conference.

Sekyi, who joined the NDC in 2012, has over the years participated in the party’s activities at both the branch and constituency levels.

Her involvement in grassroots party activities saw her serve as the Communication Officer of her branch, where she was involved in communicating the party’s messages, engaging members and supporting various activities within the branch.

Her continued participation in the affairs of the party subsequently led to her being co-opted onto the Achiase Constituency Executive Committee in 2022.

She has since remained a member of the constituency executive committee, gaining experience in the organisation and administration of the party’s activities at the constituency level.

Having served in both elected and co-opted capacities, Sekyi is now seeking a mandate from delegates to become an elected member of the NDC Constituency Executive Committee in Achiase.

According to her, the decision to contest is motivated by her desire to contribute further to the organisation, strengthening and development of the party at the grassroots level.

Her bid comes ahead of the constituency conference, where delegates are expected to elect executives who will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the affairs of the NDC in the Achiase Constituency.

The elections are expected to determine the composition of the constituency executive leadership and provide the party with a team to steer its activities and engagement with members at the local level.

Sekyi’s campaign will therefore focus on her experience within the party, particularly her involvement in branch-level activities and her subsequent work as a co-opted member of the constituency executive committee.

If elected, she is expected to take on a more formal role in the management of the party’s affairs in the constituency and contribute to efforts aimed at strengthening its grassroots structures.
