The Member of Parliament for Lambussie, Prof. Titus K. Beyuo, has appealed to the Ministry of the Interior and the security authorities to review and lift the curfew imposed on Hamile following a deadly explosion that claimed three lives and left several others injured.

Prof. Beyuo made the appeal in an urgent statement on the floor of Parliament on Thursday, November 5, 2026, citing improvements in the security situation and the gradual return to normalcy in the affected community.

The explosion, which occurred on November 3, 2026, reportedly claimed three lives and left 13 people injured, including one victim who remains in critical condition.

According to the MP, the situation in Hamile has since improved following engagements involving key stakeholders, expressing confidence that calm has been restored and residents are gradually resuming their normal activities.

Prof. Beyuo disclosed that he visited the affected community a day after the incident, accompanied by security personnel, to sympathise with the bereaved families and visit victims receiving medical treatment.

He said the injured persons were responding to treatment and disclosed that he had taken responsibility for their medical expenses. He also pledged continued support for the bereaved families as they navigate the aftermath of the tragedy.

While acknowledging the importance of the curfew in restoring order and preventing further security threats in the immediate aftermath of the explosion, the MP argued that its continued enforcement was placing considerable pressure on residents and disrupting their livelihoods and daily activities.

He therefore urged the Interior Ministry and the security leadership to reassess the restriction in light of the improved security conditions and consider lifting it to allow residents to return fully to their normal routines.

Beyond the curfew, Prof. Beyuo called on the relevant security agencies to intensify and expedite investigations into the explosion to establish its precise cause and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He stressed the need for a thorough investigation to provide clarity on the tragedy and help prevent similar incidents in the future.

The Lambussie MP also commended the Minister for the Interior and the various security agencies for their prompt response to the incident, noting that their intervention had helped prevent further escalation and additional casualties.

His appeal comes amid efforts to restore normalcy in Hamile following the deadly explosion, with residents continuing to deal with the human and economic consequences of the incident.
