The Deputy Minister of Transport and Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has held discussions with a delegation of Pakistani investors on potential investment opportunities in Ghana, with particular emphasis on the oil and gas sector.
The engagement took place on Thursday, November 5, 2026, when the Deputy Minister received the delegation, led by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Najeeb Durrani, at her office.
The meeting formed part of broader efforts to strengthen economic and commercial relations between Ghana and Pakistan while exploring opportunities for foreign investment in strategic sectors of Ghana’s economy.
During the discussions, the visiting delegation explored possible areas of investment collaboration and engaged the Deputy Minister on opportunities within Ghana’s energy industry and related industrial sectors.
Key issues considered included identifying mutually beneficial investment opportunities, deepening bilateral economic cooperation and examining how Pakistani investors could participate in Ghana’s development agenda.
The engagement also provided a platform for discussions on the role of international partnerships and private-sector participation in supporting economic growth, creating employment opportunities and accelerating industrial development.
Welcoming the delegation, Madam Affo-Toffey emphasised the importance of maintaining sustained engagements with international investors to identify viable investment opportunities capable of delivering meaningful benefits to Ghana and its development partners.
She further highlighted the need for foreign investment partnerships to be aligned with Ghana’s national development priorities, particularly in strategic sectors with the potential to stimulate economic activity and contribute to long-term development.
The Deputy Minister’s engagement with the Pakistani delegation underscores the importance of strengthening Ghana’s international economic partnerships and creating opportunities for investors to participate in the country’s development.
Although the meeting focused on exploring potential areas of cooperation, no specific investment agreement or financial commitment was announced.
The visit is expected to serve as a basis for further engagements between Pakistani investors and relevant Ghanaian stakeholders to identify concrete areas of collaboration and assess the feasibility of proposed investment opportunities.
Ghana and Pakistan have opportunities to expand their economic relationship through increased trade, investment and private-sector partnerships. Collaboration in the oil and gas industry, alongside related industrial activities, could provide an avenue for both countries to deepen commercial ties and explore opportunities for mutual economic benefit.
