A five-year-old boy and two other members of a household were killed after unidentified gunmen attacked their residence in Binduri on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Two other occupants of the house, including a radio station manager, sustained gunshot wounds in the night attack.
They are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
While the motive behind the latest attack remains unclear, security sources have linked the incident to the protracted Bawku chieftaincy conflict, which has fueled a series of violent clashes in the area over recent months.
The Binduri shooting comes on the heels of several similar attacks reported across the Bawku area.
Just last week, a gun attack in Garu claimed the lives of four people, including a teacher.
Days later, another shooting at a drinking spot in the same town left one person dead, bringing the death toll in Garu alone to five.
A male teacher traveling from the market was gunned down by unidentified assailants.
A woman was shot dead shortly after stepping outside her home.
Residents were left in shock on Saturday after a farmer was found dead in his compound with his throat slit.
Security sources state that within the past two weeks, at least 13 people have lost their lives in attacks believed to be linked to the Bawku conflict.
In a related development, the private residence of the Member of Parliament for Binduri, Yussif Mahamud, was set ablaze by unknown arsonists.
The house, located in his hometown of Aniisi, was completely destroyed.
Police and military teams have since been deployed to the area to restore calm.
Investigations continue into the wave of attacks across the eastern corridor of the Upper East Region.
