The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed Julius Kwame Anthony as a Deputy Communications Director of the party, effective immediately.

The appointment was approved by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) at a meeting held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, according to a press release issued by the NDC National Secretariat.

The party said the decision forms part of efforts to strengthen its communications machinery, enhance public engagement and improve its ability to communicate the policies, programmes and achievements of the NDC-led government.

Mr Anthony is expected to work with the Communications Directorate and other relevant party structures to advance the NDC’s communication objectives.

In announcing the appointment, the NDC said Mr Anthony’s understanding of communication and its strategic application would contribute to advancing the party’s objectives and strengthening its engagement with the Ghanaian public.

The party expressed confidence that his appointment would enhance its capacity to communicate its vision, deepen public understanding of its policy direction and sustain what it described as the gains being made under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.

It also highlighted the importance of the Reset Agenda, the governing party’s framework for communicating and pursuing its policy priorities.

According to the statement, Mr Anthony is expected to play a role in ensuring that the party effectively articulates its positions and communicates the government’s programmes and achievements to the public.

The party expressed confidence that Mr Anthony would bring dedication, professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility to his new position.

It further emphasised the need for collaboration between the newly appointed Deputy Communications Director, the Communications Directorate and other relevant structures to ensure the effective implementation of the party’s communication strategy.

The appointment comes as the governing party seeks to strengthen its engagement with the public and ensure that its policies and programmes are effectively communicated through various media platforms.

However, the statement did not provide further details about Mr Anthony’s professional background or outline specific responsibilities assigned to him beyond his general role in advancing the party’s communication objectives.

The NDC has also formally identified Godwin Ako Gunn, Kakra Essamuah and Julius Kwame Anthony as the party’s official communication contacts.

In the statement, the party informed media organisations and the general public that the three individuals are the designated voices to contact on matters concerning the NDC.

The directive is intended to provide media practitioners and other stakeholders with recognised points of contact for information and clarification on party-related issues.

The party consequently urged print, electronic and digital media organisations, as well as other relevant stakeholders, to take note of Mr Anthony’s appointment and accord him the necessary recognition in the discharge of his official duties.

His appointment takes immediate effect.
