Central Region NDC Communications Officer hopeful, Nurideen Kobina Essah, has urged delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to prioritise competence, commitment, unity and development in electing constituency executives for the next four years.

He has also called on aspirants, campaign teams and party supporters to maintain peace and decorum ahead of the party’s constituency executive elections scheduled for October 24 and 25, 2026.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 19, Essah commended the various aspirants and their campaign teams for conducting their campaigns peacefully, describing their conduct as a reflection of their commitment to the values and principles of the NDC.

He stressed that the party’s collective interest must take precedence over individual ambitions, warning that internal contests should not undermine the unity, stability and public image of the party.

“Our ambition to lead must never be greater than our commitment to the party,” he said.

“We must remember that the unity, stability, and corporate image of the NDC are shared responsibilities that transcend individual ambitions.”

With the polls approaching, Essah urged all contestants and their supporters to remain calm throughout the final days of campaigning and on election day.

He emphasised that disagreements and competition among aspirants should be handled with maturity and mutual respect to prevent tensions from escalating and affecting relationships within the party.

According to him, the elections should serve as an opportunity to strengthen the NDC’s internal democracy rather than create divisions among members who share a common political goal.

He also appealed to officials responsible for organising and supervising the elections to ensure that the process is fair, transparent, impartial and accountable.

Essah noted that a credible electoral process would boost delegates’ confidence in the outcome and reinforce trust in the party’s internal democratic structures.

Describing delegates as the “kingmakers” in the electoral process, Essah urged them to exercise their voting rights with wisdom, maturity and a clear understanding of the party’s needs at the constituency level.

He said their choices would determine the quality of leadership responsible for managing constituency affairs over the next four years, making it essential for them to select candidates based on competence, dedication, integrity and their ability to unite party members.

He further encouraged delegates to consider the candidates’ commitment to grassroots mobilisation, organisational stability and the broader development of the party.

Essah maintained that electing capable and committed executives would position the NDC to strengthen its structures and pursue its political objectives more effectively.

As the party prepares for the nationwide constituency elections on October 24 and 25, he expressed hope that the process would be conducted peacefully and produce credible outcomes acceptable to party members.

“Let us compete with respect, disagree without hostility, and emerge from the polls as one family, ready to work together for the progress of our party,” he stated.

Essah wished all aspirants well and expressed optimism that the elections would leave the NDC stronger, more united and better positioned to advance its collective goals.
