The Management of the University of Ghana has postponed the reopening of the university for the 2026/2027 academic year, which was scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2026.

According to the notice, a new date for the reopening of the university will be communicated to students in due course.

Management did not state the reason for the postponement in the notice.

The university has, however, urged students to remain patient and understanding as arrangements are made for the reopening of the institution.

“Management sincerely regrets any inconvenience this postponement may cause and appreciates the patience and understanding of students as arrangements are made for the reopening,” the notice stated.

Despite the postponement, students have been reminded to complete their academic registration online in accordance with the procedures outlined in an earlier communication from the university.

Management emphasised that completing the registration process is necessary for students to secure their places for classes and qualify to participate in the upcoming random bed allocation exercise.

The university indicated that the bed allocation exercise would be conducted soon, although it did not provide a specific date for the process.

The postponement means students will have to await further communication from the university before making arrangements based on a revised reopening date.

The University of Ghana has not yet announced when the new academic year will officially commence.

Students have therefore been advised to complete their online academic registration and follow subsequent official announcements from the university for updates on the reopening and related arrangements.
