“It has been a great day. The inspiring statement delivered by the Hon. Finance Minister gives renewed hope and confidence in the government’s economic agenda. His vision and commitment to fiscal discipline, development, and inclusive growth deserve commendation,” she stated.
The 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review, presented by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in Parliament on July 23, 2026, introduced no new taxes and did not seek additional appropriations.
Instead, the government focused on realigning existing expenditure, strengthening digital tax compliance, and accelerating infrastructure development as part of its broader economic transformation agenda.
The Finance Minister explained that the government had avoided returning to Parliament for supplementary funding by strategically reallocating existing expenditure ceilings to priority sectors while maintaining fiscal discipline.
He also highlighted improvements in the country’s macroeconomic indicators, noting that the government’s economic management had contributed to a significant reduction in the monetary policy rate from 27 percent to 14 percent a move expected to lower borrowing costs for businesses and support private sector growth.
On debt management, Dr. Ato Forson disclosed that government had strengthened the national Sinking Fund, with savings projected to reach GH¢30 billion, to pre-finance upcoming external debt obligations and reduce refinancing risks.
Madam Gyan Cudjoe said the Minister’s presentation demonstrated purposeful leadership and a clear commitment to addressing Ghana’s economic challenges while laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth and national prosperity.
She expressed confidence that the government’s policies, if effectively implemented, would stimulate investment, create jobs, support businesses, and strengthen the country’s overall financial resilience.
The Amenfi Central MP further reaffirmed her unwavering support for the government’s economic transformation agenda, stressing that national development requires collective effort, discipline, and collaboration among all stakeholders.
She urged Ghanaians to support the administration’s policies, expressing optimism that the country’s economy would continue on a path of sustained growth through prudent fiscal management and targeted investments.
Her remarks come as government officials continue to defend the administration’s economic strategy, maintaining that responsible fiscal management, strategic infrastructure investment, and inclusive growth remain central to improving the welfare of citizens and securing Ghana’s long-term economic future.
