The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers from its Customs Division.
The move comes as the Authority launches an internal investigation into potential procedural breaches involving transit goods.
The decision follows an enforcement operation conducted on February 18, 2026.
The operation focused on a specific consignment of transit cargo destined for Niger.
Upon inspection, officials discovered significant discrepancies between the declared documentation and the physical cargo, as well as failures to follow established transit protocols.
The GRA’s initial assessment suggests that the five officers may have bypassed mandatory procedures.
The internal probe aims to establish the full facts of the transit cargo incident.
Determine the extent of individual involvement of the interdicted officers.
Identify any departures from standard Customs protocols.
The Authority has noted that additional officers may be called in to assist with the inquiry.
Once the investigation is complete, administrative actions will be taken in strict accordance with national laws and internal regulations.
This crackdown is part of a broader effort by the GRA to enhance transparency and safeguard the nation’s economy.

In their official statement, Management emphasized that these actions are necessary to protect national revenue from leakage.
Support local industry growth by preventing unfair trade practices.
Ensure professionalism across all revenue collection and enforcement points.
”We remain committed to ensuring that all revenue collection and enforcement procedures are executed with the highest standards of professionalism and accountability,” the GRA stated.
