A somber atmosphere hung over the Adukrom–Koforidua Highway on Saturday, March 7, 2026, following a devastating road traffic accident that has claimed the lives of three men.
The incident involved a HOWO 371 heavy-duty truck, which reportedly overturned while navigating the stretch of road near the popular Asenema Waterfalls.
Upon receiving the distress call, personnel from the Kpong Municipal Fire Station were immediately dispatched to the scene.
On arrival, first responders found the massive vehicle on its side with three male occupants trapped within the mangled cabin.
The firefighters initiated a complex extrication operation to reach those inside.
Despite their swift efforts, all three individuals were found unresponsive and were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Aftermath and Road Safety
Once the victims were retrieved, their bodies were handed over to the Police Motor Trasport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD).
They have since been transported to the Tetteh-Quarshie Memorial Hospital morgue in Mampong for preservation and identification.
To prevent further incidents on the busy highway, the fire crew remained on-site to clear debris and spilled fluids from the roadway, ensuring the path was structurally safe for passing motorists.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the local authorities.
