A 23-year-old palm wine tapper, Prince (popularly known as “On God”), is in police custody following a horrific arson attack that claimed the lives of his girlfriend and two of her family members.
The tragedy reportedly stemmed from a domestic dispute regarding the suspect’s relationship with 19-year-old Benedicta Kudjo Felicia, a student at Queen Senior High School.
According to Madam Poulina, a relative of the victims, the family had previously warned Prince to stay away from Felicia to allow her to focus on her education.
In retaliation to the family’s disapproval, the suspect allegedly threatened to set the entire household ablaze if he was not allowed to marry the young student.
The suspect is alleged to have followed through on his threat, setting the family home on fire.

Local leaders and the bereaved family are calling on the Ghana Police Service to ensure a swift and thorough prosecution.
”We are appealing to the authorities to ensure justice is served,” Madam Poulina stated, noting that the suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident.
Investigations are currently ongoing as the police gather further evidence to present in court.
