The family of the late Apostle Professor Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka has officially announced the postponement of the burial rites, traditionally known as “Dote Yie,” which had been scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026.
In a public statement issued by the Aduana Family of Essumeja-Asantemanso in the Ashanti Region, the family explained that the decision follows ongoing consultations aimed at resolving matters relating to the customary-law rights and final burial arrangements of the late renowned industrialist, inventor, and founder of the Kantanka Group.
According to the statement, legal representatives of former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, identified in the release as the family’s daughter, have formally requested an amicable meeting and settlement regarding issues surrounding the deceased’s customary rights and funeral arrangements.
The family emphasized that the postponement is intended to create room for dialogue and consensus-building among all relevant stakeholders.
“In the spirit of peace, mutual respect, family unity, and adherence to customary and legal processes, stakeholders have been encouraged to engage in dialogue to reach a consensus on all matters relating to the final burial arrangements,” the statement noted.
The family further appealed to media houses and the general public to exercise restraint and avoid speculation or the circulation of unverified information while discussions continue.
The statement reaffirmed the family’s commitment to ensuring that the final funeral and burial rites of Apostle Prof. Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka are conducted in a dignified manner that reflects his legacy, achievements, and values.
“The family remains committed to ensuring that the final funeral and burial rites of Apostle Professor Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka are conducted in a manner that upholds his dignity, legacy, and the values for which he stood,” the release stressed.
The family assured the public that any agreed arrangements concerning the funeral and burial will be communicated through official channels in due course.
The statement was jointly signed by Dr. Philip Siaw Kissi, Family Secretary and Co-Chair of the Funeral Committee; Nana Karikari, Busuapanin Nyantakyi Adomako; and the Family Spokesperson.
Apostle Prof. Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka was widely celebrated for his contributions to technological innovation, automobile manufacturing, and industrial development in Ghana through the establishment of the Kantanka Automobile Company and several other enterprises under the Kantanka Group.
The late Apostle Dr. Kantanka died on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 77.
