Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Osahen Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has praised the remarkable political journey of Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, describing his rise within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a strong source of inspiration for members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) at the University of Mines and Technology (UMAT).
Addressing TESCON members on the UMAT campus, Afenyo-Markin said the story of TESCON at the university would never be complete without acknowledging the vision, sacrifices and pioneering efforts of Nana B, who served as the founding President of TESCON-UMAT.
According to him, Nana B’s steady rise through the ranks of the NPP demonstrates that dedication, loyalty and hard work are always rewarded within the party.
“Nana B started as a young TESCON member and founding President here at UMAT. Through hard work, consistency and loyalty to the party, he has risen from National Youth Organizer to National Organizer and is now seeking to become the National First Vice Chairman of the NPP,” Afenyo-Markin stated.
He emphasized that Nana B’s political journey should motivate TESCON members and young party activists across the country to remain committed to the ideals of the NPP.
“The story of Nana B should reassure every TESCON member gathered here today that service to the party is never in vain. The New Patriotic Party has always shown that it recognizes, nurtures and rewards loyal young people who dedicate themselves to the service of the party,” he said.
The Effutu MP further encouraged students not to underestimate the impact of their current sacrifices in student politics and party organization, stressing that every effort invested in mobilization, advocacy and leadership development contributes to a greater future.
“So when you spend your time mobilizing your colleagues, defending the ideals of the party, organizing programmes, engaging in debates and standing firm even when it is not convenient, know that you are building something far bigger than the moment,” he noted.
Afenyo-Markin described Nana B’s rise as more than just an individual success story, saying it serves as proof that young people within the party can rise to occupy key leadership positions through discipline and commitment.
“Nana B’s story is not just a celebration of one man’s rise. It is a reminder that with loyalty, humility, hard work and consistency, you too can serve, you too can lead, and you too can rise to the very top of our party and our country,” he added.
Afenyo-Markin recalled how Nana B, while pursuing a degree in Mining Engineering at UMAT, took the initiative to mobilize like-minded students to establish TESCON on campus.
He commended the former TESCON leader for demonstrating courage and leadership at a young age, qualities he said eventually propelled him into national politics and party leadership.
Henry Nana Boakye, widely known as Nana B, has become one of the prominent young figures within the NPP, having previously served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Service Authority, National Youth Organizer and currently National Organizer of the party.
His political journey continues to attract admiration among party faithful, particularly within TESCON circles, where he is regarded as an example of grassroots leadership and political growth.
