The Member of Parliament for Agona East, Hon. Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr, has assured residents of Agona Nantifa that no community within the constituency will be neglected under her leadership, as she reaffirmed her commitment to accelerating development across the area.
According to the MP, her office remains fully committed to delivering on promises made to the people during the 2024 general elections through the implementation of infrastructure and social intervention projects aimed at improving the living conditions of residents.
Hon. Sawyer gave the assurance during the official commissioning and handing over ceremony of a newly constructed AstroTurf facility to the people of Agona Nantifa in the Central Region.
Addressing a gathering of chiefs, opinion leaders, youth groups and residents, the MP described the completion of the sports facility as the fulfillment of one of the key promises she made to the community during her election campaign.
She explained that the AstroTurf project is expected to promote youth development, encourage sporting activities within the community and provide a safe recreational centre for young people.
According to her, the facility would also create opportunities for identifying and nurturing talented footballers and athletes within the constituency.
Hon. Sawyer emphasized that the newly commissioned AstroTurf is only one among several ongoing development projects being undertaken across the Agona East Constituency.
She disclosed that a number of projects in the education, health and road sectors are currently at various stages of completion and would soon be commissioned for public use.
The MP further revealed that she has held discussions with some investors who have shown interest in establishing factories within the constituency to create jobs for the youth and stimulate economic growth in the area.
She therefore appealed to chiefs and residents of Agona East to continue supporting her leadership and the government of President to enable more development projects to be implemented across the constituency.
“I will never leave any community behind in terms of development. My commitment is to ensure that every part of Agona East benefits from the development agenda we have outlined,” she assured.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debra, commended the Member of Parliament for fulfilling her promise to the people of Agona Nantifa.
He urged residents to protect and maintain the AstroTurf facility to ensure its longevity and continuous benefit to the youth and future generations.
According to Hon. Debrah, one of the major challenges facing the country is the poor maintenance culture associated with public infrastructure, which often results in the rapid deterioration of projects.
He therefore appealed to the community to take collective responsibility for preserving the facility.
Hon. Debrah also pledged his continued support for development initiatives within the Agona East Constituency.
The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), , also praised Hon. Sawyer for her commitment to the development of the constituency.
He noted that several development projects are ongoing in different communities within Agona East and appealed to residents to continue supporting the MP to enable her deliver more projects.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Agona Nantifa, Nana Kofi Asare appealed to the government to consider appointing Hon. Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyer to a ministerial position.
According to the chief, the MP has over the years demonstrated dedication, commitment and experience in championing the development needs of the constituency and deserves the opportunity to serve the nation at a higher level.
The chief expressed confidence that such an appointment would further accelerate development within Agona East and improve the welfare of the people.
