Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has officially selected Nana Ama Bonsu as the 15th Asantehemaa of the Asante Kingdom, marking a significant moment in the history and traditional leadership structure of Asanteman.
Her selection comes following the passing of the late Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III, the 14th Asantehemaa, who died in 2025 after years of dedicated service to the Asante Kingdom and the people of Ghana.
The appointment of a new Asantehemaa is regarded as one of the most important traditional processes within the Ashanti Kingdom, as the Queen Mother occupies a central role in the governance, culture, and preservation of customs and traditions of Asanteman.
