Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson, has been named African Ambassador of the Year at the prestigious Voice Achievers Awards, in what organisers are describing as the highest diplomatic honour.
The award recognises envoys whose work has redefined the role of an ambassador from a mere state representative to a transformative agent of economic growth, diaspora empowerment, and continental pride.
The award which is being organized by The Voice Achievers Award, a leading pan-African organisation dedicated to celebrating African excellence in the diaspora on Friday August 21, 2026, will be hosted at the iconic Hilton Kensington, London.

Ghana’s High Commissioner to UK has been recognized due to her performance across critical areas such as economic diplomacy where since her appointment, ensured a swift transformation of Ghana High Commission in London from a traditional consular office into an active economic hub, attracting foreign direct investment into Ghana across agribusiness, renewable energy, technology, and the creative industries.
The Voice Achievers Award also cited her dedication in championing and pioneering a people-first approach to diplomacy, deepening engagement with Ghanaian and African communities in the UK and Ireland, creating stronger channels for investment, skills transfer, and cultural pride while ensuring consular services are more accessible and responsive.
