The Russian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Sergei Berdnikov, has raised questions about the identity of an individual suspected of publishing sexually explicit images and videos of Ghanaian women.
The Ambassador stated that he cannot confirm the suspect’s nationality, noting that the name circulating in Ghanaian media is not a recognized Russian name.
Instead, the Ambassador explained that the name appears to be an “inappropriate or vulgar expression” in the Russian language, suggesting the individual is using a pseudonym.
This revelation follows a summons by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, which expressed “strong displeasure” at the alleged actions.
The Ghanaian government emphasized that the distribution of such material violates Ghanaian law and targets the privacy and dignity of victims.
Ambassador Berdnikov acknowledged the severity of the situation and pledged Russia’s cooperation with Ghanaian authorities.
The Russian commissioner revealed that the individual is known to Russian authorities for similar behavior elsewhere, and experts are investigating their global footprint. Despite no extradition treaty between Ghana and Russia, the embassy pledged support in sharing information to help apprehend the suspect.
