Cobby Wilson, a candidate for the position of Constituency Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Awutu Senya East Constituency (ASEC), has expressed appreciation to party members and supporters for what he described as overwhelming support during his vetting process.
In a statement issued on Friday, September 25, 2026, Mr Wilson thanked members of the constituency, particularly his “committed and wonderful comrades,” for their solidarity, encouragement and prayers throughout the day.
His appreciation follows a vetting exercise conducted after a petition was filed against his candidature.
According to Mr Wilson, the process was rigorous, but the presence and support of party members gave him strength and reinforced his confidence in the grassroots.
He said many supporters remained with him and patiently waited as the vetting process unfolded, describing their show of solidarity as a demonstration of the importance of grassroots support within the party.
“It was undoubtedly a rigorous vetting process, but your presence, encouragement, prayers, and unwavering confidence in me gave me immense strength,” he said.
Mr Wilson stressed that he did not take the support for granted, saying the experience had reinforced his belief that the strength of the NDC in Awutu Senya East lies in its members at the grassroots level.
While expressing satisfaction with the support he received, Mr Wilson said the completion of the vetting process should mark the beginning of renewed work within the constituency.
He therefore called on his supporters and other NDC members to return to the communities and strengthen engagement with branches and wards across Awutu Senya East.
He said the focus should be on listening to the concerns of constituents, addressing issues affecting the grassroots and improving communication within the constituency.
“The vetting may be over, but the real work has just begun,” Mr Wilson said.
He added that there is a need for party members to “join hands” to strengthen the NDC’s grassroots structures and build what he described as a stronger communication system for both the party and the constituency.
According to him, effective communication and regular engagement with party members would be critical to ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of the grassroots remained at the centre of the constituency’s activities.
Mr Wilson further pledged to continue working to advance the interests of the NDC and contribute to the development of Awutu Senya East Constituency.
He assured party members that the concerns and aspirations of the grassroots would remain a priority in his work.
“I remain committed to working tirelessly to make the NDC and Awutu Senya East Constituency proud. The concerns and aspirations of the grassroots will remain my priority,” he said.
The candidate also used the statement to extend his appreciation to every party member who supported him during the vetting process.
He described the solidarity as an indication of the confidence some grassroots members have placed in his candidature and expressed gratitude for what he called the depth of the support shown to him.
Mr Wilson reaffirmed his campaign for the Constituency Communications Officer position, urging delegates and supporters to back his candidature.
“Cobby is here to stay. Cobby is here to serve. Cobby is here to work for you,” he said.
He is contesting as Candidate No. 3 and urged delegates to vote for him as the NDC moves towards its constituency-level electoral activities in Awutu Senya East.
