The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has admitted a record 17,807 students into its regular and sandwich programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year, marking the highest enrolment figure in the history of the university.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Denis Aheto, announced the figures at a matriculation ceremony for newly admitted regular and sandwich students.

According to him, the total enrolment represents an unprecedented milestone for the institution, reflecting its growing student population.

“This figure for the 2026–2027 academic year is the highest ever recorded in the history of our university,” Prof. Aheto said.

He disclosed that regular admissions for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes accounted for 14,935 students.

The regular admissions comprised 13,824 undergraduate students and 1,110 postgraduate students.

In addition, the university admitted 2,872 students into its sandwich programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year, bringing the combined enrolment figure announced by the Vice-Chancellor to 17,807.

The figures highlight the scale of admissions across the university’s various academic programmes as UCC continues to provide tertiary education to students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The matriculation ceremony formally welcomed the newly admitted students into the university community, marking the beginning of their academic journey at the institution.
