The Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has announced a full scholarship package for outstanding candidates in the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

According to the MP, any candidate within the Akyem Oda Constituency who attains eight Grade Ones in the examination will be awarded a comprehensive scholarship to support their further education.

The initiative, he explained, forms part of his commitment to promoting quality education and rewarding academic excellence among students in the constituency.

He emphasised hard work, discipline, and determination as key ingredients for success.

During a tour to schools in Oda to assess their preparedness, Hon. Acquah encouraged the BECE candidates to remain focused as they prepare for the exams, urging them to give off their best.

“I encourage all candidates to remain focused, disciplined and determined to achieve success. Let’s make ourselves proud,” he stated.

The 2026 BECE is scheduled to take place from Monday, May 4 to Monday, May 11, 2026.

More than 620,000 candidates from 20,395 schools are expected to sit for 11 subjects across 2,303 centres nationwide.

Of this number, 304,349 are boys while 315,792 are girls.

A key reform this year allows candidates to select up to eight schools, including two Category A schools, in a bid to improve the school placement system.

The announcement by the former Deputy Minister for Health is expected to motivate students across the constituency to strive for academic excellence as they prepare for one of the most important examinations at the basic education level in Ghana.
