The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has revealed plans to explore strategic industrial partnership opportunities between Ghana and Serbian manufacturing company, UNIPROMET, as part of efforts to drive industrialization, infrastructure development, and job creation in the country.
According to the MP, the engagement forms part of her broader vision to attract credible international investors and industrial partners capable of contributing significantly to Ghana’s long-term economic transformation and industrial growth agenda.
Speaking after a visit to Serbia, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe described UNIPROMET as one of Serbia’s leading industrial manufacturing firms with a strong reputation across Europe for engineering excellence, innovation, and large-scale production capacity.
Founded in 1989, the company currently employs more than 650 professionals and operates two advanced manufacturing facilities located in Čačak and Kraljevo.
The facilities reportedly span over 60,000 square metres of production space situated on approximately 220,000 square metres of industrial land.
The company also records an annual turnover of about €102 million and exports its products to more than 30 countries across Europe and other international markets.
Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe noted that the expertise and production capabilities of UNIPROMET present significant opportunities for Ghana, particularly in areas relating to infrastructure development, industrial expansion, renewable energy, and technical capacity building.
She explained that the company specializes in the manufacturing of highway guardrails and road restraint systems, traffic signs and transport infrastructure, bridge safety barriers, noise protection systems, steel structures, steel pipes, and industrial steel products.
The company also provides services in hot-dip galvanizing, corrosion protection, metal processing, engineering design, renewable energy infrastructure, and solar panel mounting systems.
According to the MP, UNIPROMET’s adherence to internationally recognized standards, including CE Certification, EN 1317, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, demonstrates its commitment to quality, safety, environmental responsibility, and global best practices.
She emphasized that a potential collaboration between Ghana and the Serbian company could support local manufacturing, strengthen the country’s steel fabrication industry, improve transport and road infrastructure, and facilitate technology transfer and workforce development.
Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe further indicated that such partnerships could create employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth while positioning Ghana as a strategic gateway for industrial investment within the West African sub-region.
“My vision is to position Ghana as a gateway for industrial investment into West Africa, working with credible international companies that have the experience, capacity, and technology to contribute to our nation’s development,” she stated.
She added that discussions with stakeholders in Ghana and officials of UNIPROMET would continue in the coming months to identify areas of mutual collaboration that align with Ghana’s national development priorities.
The Amenfi Central legislator stressed that Ghana’s future growth would depend not only on its natural resources but also on the strength and quality of international partnerships capable of accelerating industrialization and infrastructure development.
She expressed optimism that engagements with world-class industrial companies such as UNIPROMET would contribute to sustainable economic opportunities for future generations and support Ghana’s broader industrial transformation agenda.
