Players and officials of Berekum Chelsea narrowly escaped harm after their team bus was attacked by armed robbers along a highway in the Western Region.
The frightening incident reportedly occurred at Ayeresu on the Gorso road, a stretch between Bibiani and a nearby community popularly known as “B-Town.”
According to initial reports, the attackers mounted a roadblock, forcing the team’s vehicle to a halt.
Sensing danger, the driver attempted to reverse the bus to avoid a confrontation, but the robbers reportedly advanced toward the vehicle, escalating the situation.
Gunshots were said to have been fired during the attack, triggering panic among the players and officials on board.
Several members of the team reportedly fled into nearby bushes to seek cover as the robbers closed in.
