Former Energy Minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant, Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, has congratulated John Boadu on his election as the party’s National Chairman.
Mr Agyarko also extended his congratulations to all newly elected national executives following the party’s National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 4, Mr Agyarko said the outcome of the conference demonstrated the NPP’s commitment to its democratic traditions and internal processes.
He said the delegates had exercised their mandate and entrusted the new leadership with the responsibility of steering the affairs of the party.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mr John Boadu on his election as the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party,” Mr Agyarko said.
He wished Mr Boadu “wisdom, strength and great success” as he assumes responsibility for leading the party.
Mr Agyarko also congratulated the other newly elected national officers, describing their victories as a call to “duty, service and sacrifice.”
The former minister expressed appreciation to his campaign team, volunteers, constituency chairpersons, constituency executives and delegates who supported his bid for the National Chairmanship.
He said the support and sacrifices made by his campaigners and supporters would remain valuable to the party despite the outcome of the election.
According to him, his campaign team conducted the contest with dignity and demonstrated a strong commitment to the NPP.
“I am eternally grateful. Your loyalty, passion and sacrifices for our party will never be in vain,” he said.
Mr Agyarko urged party members to put the internal contest behind them and focus on strengthening the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He described internal elections as contests among members of the same political family rather than battles between enemies.
“Internal contests in our party are not battles between adversaries; they are family contests among brothers and sisters committed to the same sacred cause,” he said.
He added that the NPP should now concentrate on healing any divisions that may have emerged during the campaign and present a united front to the Ghanaian electorate.
“The election is behind us, and the time for consolidation begins immediately,” Mr Agyarko said.
He stressed that the challenges confronting the country and the party required members to close ranks and work together.
Mr Agyarko pledged his support for Mr Boadu, the newly elected National Executive Committee and the party’s 2028 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He said his commitment to the NPP remained unchanged and that he was prepared to work with the party’s leadership and grassroots structures across the country.
He identified the NPP’s “total, decisive victory” in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections as the party’s principal objective.
“I stand fully and resolutely ready to support Chairman John Boadu, the entire newly elected National Executive Committee, and our Flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,” he said.
Mr Agyarko said he would work with the party’s leadership and grassroots members across all 16 regions to help return the NPP to government.
He said the party’s focus should now shift from internal competition to building a stronger organisation capable of winning the next general election and governing Ghana.
Mr Agyarko also commended the NPP National Elections Committee, the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the security services for their roles in supervising the national elections.
He described the process as smooth, transparent and peaceful and called on members to move forward as one united party.
“Let us rise together as one indivisible elephant family, united in purpose, discipline and fellowship,” he said.

Mr Agyarko’s statement follows the election of Mr John Boadu as National Chairman at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi, where delegates also elected other national officers to lead the party ahead of the 2028 elections.
He called for continued commitment to the NPP and Ghana, saying: “God bless the New Patriotic Party, and God bless our homeland Ghana.”
