Lead Convenor of Citizen Eye Ghana, Alex Kweku Tetteh, has thrown his support behind Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, in the highly contested New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairmanship race.
Mr. Tetteh, addressing the media ahead of the party’s regional executive elections in the Ashanti Region, described Odeneho Kwaku Appiah as a candidate capable of providing the leadership, unity and direction needed to strengthen the NPP and reposition its structures in the region.
According to him, the choice of a regional chairman is critical to the organisation and future electoral fortunes of the party, particularly at a time when the NPP is seeking to consolidate its grassroots support and rebuild its internal structures ahead of future elections.
He argued that Odeneho Kwaku Appiah possesses the experience, party knowledge and understanding of grassroots politics required to effectively coordinate the party’s activities across the Ashanti Region.
Mr. Tetteh therefore urged NPP delegates and supporters to rally behind COKA, stressing that his leadership would help strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and foster unity among members.
The endorsement comes as the NPP prepares for its Ashanti Regional Executive Elections, with a total of 1,020 delegates expected to cast their ballots in the crucial polls.
A total of 34 aspirants are contesting 11 key executive positions, setting the stage for a keenly contested internal election in one of the party’s most politically significant regions.
The elections are being closely watched because of the strategic importance of the Ashanti Region to the NPP’s electoral fortunes.

The Regional Chairmanship contest has attracted particular attention, with the race shaping up as a battle between two prominent NPP figures—Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, and Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, a former Member of Parliament for Bantama and former Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Both candidates are seeking the confidence of delegates as the party determines who will lead its regional affairs and coordinate its political activities in the Ashanti Region.
