The family of Isaac Eshun, a 34-year-old commercial driver who allegedly died after being beaten at Gomoa Achiase in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region, has appealed to the Ghana Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The family says there are unanswered questions about what happened to Isaac before he was rushed to the Gomoa Achiase Health Centre, and is calling for an independent and intensive investigation to establish the actual cause of his death.
According to the family, Isaac was reportedly in distress when his wife contacted his father, Rev. Isaac Eshun, to inform him that her husband had collapsed and was being taken to a health facility for medical attention.
Rev. Eshun said he immediately went to the Gomoa Achiase Health Centre, where he was informed by a nurse that the person who had brought his son to the facility claimed Isaac had fallen from a coconut tree.
The account has raised concerns within the family, which says it wants the police to establish whether the explanation given at the health facility accurately reflects what happened to Isaac.
Rev. Eshun is therefore appealing to the Ghana Police Service to investigate the matter thoroughly, identify the circumstances that led to his son’s injuries and death, and ensure that any person found to have played a role is brought to justice.

She appealed to the government and the leadership of the Ghana Police Service to intervene and ensure that the investigation is conducted without delay.
Isaac’s wife has similarly called on the authorities to intensify investigations into the case and bring anyone found culpable to book.
The family is particularly concerned about the conflicting account surrounding how Isaac sustained the injuries that preceded his death and wants the police to establish the facts through a comprehensive investigation.
