The Greater Accra Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has instructed all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education, as well as heads of senior high and technical schools, to operationalise school clubs and submit their activity schedules by the end of April 2026.
The directive, contained in a letter dated April 14, 2025, and signed by the Regional Director of Education, Hajia Katumi Natogmah Attah, acknowledged earlier efforts by schools and district offices to establish various clubs. It urged them to move a step further by officially launching these groups.
Under the new guidelines, schools are expected to:
Ensure all clubs are formally launched by April 30, 2026
Outline specific timelines for club activities
Forward both launch dates and comprehensive action plans to the Regional Directorate for monitoring and evaluation.
The GES stressed the importance of adhering strictly to the deadline to support effective supervision and coordination.
Schools seeking additional guidance have been encouraged to liaise with the Regional Basic and Language Coordinator.
The initiative is aimed at enhancing co-curricular programmes in schools and promoting greater student participation outside the traditional classroom setting.
