In a move set to redefine the strategic landscape of Ghana-Korea relations, President John Dramani Mahama and President Lee Jae Myung have signed three major bilateral agreements aimed at securing the future of both nations.
The high-level meeting, held earlier today, saw the two leaders reaffirming a decades-old partnership rooted in democratic values and shared economic ambitions.

The talks culminated in the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering:
Maritime Security: Enhancing safety in Ghanaian waters to protect trade routes.
Climate Change Cooperation: Collaborative efforts to meet global environmental targets.
Digital Technology: Leveraging Korea’s tech leadership to accelerate Ghana’s digital transformation.

President Mahama underscored that the bond between Accra and Seoul transcends simple diplomacy, noting that both nations consistently align on the world stage.
”Our shared history and mutual commitment to human rights have enabled us to work seamlessly within the United Nations and other multilateral institutions,” President Mahama stated.
By advancing similar positions on global issues, the two countries have established themselves as a unified voice for democratic stability and sustainable development.

A major focal point of the discussions was the revitalization of Ghana’s agricultural sector.
President Mahama praised the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for its ongoing support inboosting domestic rice production and enhancing value-added agribusiness initiatives.
With the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat headquartered in Accra, President Mahama pitched Ghana as the ultimate strategic hub for Korean investors.
He noted that Korean technological innovation, paired with Ghana’s vast natural resources and skilled workforce, creates a powerhouse for exports across the African continent.
The President expressed strong optimism that this synergy will drive shared prosperity and sustainable growth for both West Africa and the Korean peninsula.
