The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued two persons alive following a road traffic accident along the Kpeve–Peki stretch in the Volta Region.
According to the GNFS, personnel from the Peki Fire Station swiftly responded to a distress call on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, after receiving reports of a collision involving a Rhino truck and a Toyota Voxy.
The accident, which occurred on the Kpeve–Peki road, was reported to the fire station at approximately 7:41 a.m.
The vehicles involved were identified as a Rhino truck with registration number GX 3516-16 and a Toyota Voxy bearing registration number GN 6973-25.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters immediately commenced rescue operations and successfully extricated two male victims, aged 52 and 20, from the wreckage.
The victims were rescued alive and handed over to the appropriate emergency response teams for further assistance.
In addition to the rescue operation, the firefighters salvaged assorted drinks and ammonium sulphate fertilizer from the accident scene.
The recovery of the cargo helped prevent additional hazards and ensured the safety of other road users and nearby residents.
The Ghana National Fire Service indicated that investigations are underway to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.
The Service has meanwhile urged motorists to adhere strictly to road safety regulations, avoid reckless driving, and remain vigilant while using the country’s roads.
Road traffic accidents continue to pose a major challenge across Ghana, with emergency services frequently emphasizing the importance of responsible driving, proper vehicle maintenance, and compliance with traffic laws to reduce fatalities and injuries.
