The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, and the Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, have narrowly escaped death following a harrowing road accident on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
The accident occurred on the Bolgatanga-Tumu road while the two officials were travelling for official government duties in the Upper East Region.
They were scheduled to honour the 40th Anniversary of the Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education in the Upper West Region.
The vehicle with the registration number GX 24-25, which was carrying the ministers lost control and somersaulted several times before coming to a halt.
The impact was severe enough to trigger the vehicle’s airbags, which officials believe played a critical role in saving the lives of the occupants.
The two ministers were rushed to a nearby medical facility and are currently in stable condition and responding well to treatment.
