The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted 25 police personnel in recognition of their exceptional performance and contributions to major crime-fighting operations across parts of the country.
The personnel were rewarded for their roles in a series of successful operations involving the arrest of suspected armed robbers and the interception of a large consignment of suspected cocaine at the Tema Harbour.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the promotions cover personnel whose work contributed to significant breakthroughs in the Bono East, Tema and Western Central Police Regions.
Among the operations cited was the arrest of six suspects allegedly involved in a robbery incident along the Portor to Kawempe stretch of the Kintampo-Buipe Highway on July 19, 2026.
The suspects were arrested in connection with a robbery in which GH¢300,000 was reportedly taken from a victim.
The promoted officers also played key roles in the arrest of four suspected members of a robbery syndicate allegedly linked to a violent robbery incident at Wassa Akropong in the Tarkwa area of the Western Central Police Region.
In another major operation, police personnel were recognised for their contribution to the interception of 866 parcels of suspected cocaine at the Tema Harbour.
The police administration said the recognition was intended to encourage personnel who demonstrate commitment and professionalism in the performance of their duties, particularly in operations aimed at disrupting organised crime and the trafficking of illicit drugs.
Among those promoted are Chief Inspectors Bede Nwinbomeh and Joe Tetteh; General Sergeants Elijah Ndaga Yinimi and Kaifan Sulemanna; General Corporals Owusu Ansah Evans and Tansang Jonathan; and General Lance Corporals Osei Christopher Bonny, Kyei Francis, Ofori Francis, Anim Dominic and Asante Isaac.

Six additional personnel were also promoted to their next ranks in recognition of their contribution to the fight against crime.
As part of the recognition, Chief Inspectors Bede Nwinbomeh and Joe Tetteh have been granted automatic entry to the Police Academy.
The Police Administration said the promotions were based on the personnel’s dedication, courage, professionalism and commitment to protecting lives and property and combating criminal activities.
The IGP and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to maintain the standards that earned them the recognition.
Mr Yohuno further encouraged the promoted personnel to remain professional, disciplined and dedicated in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He assured personnel of the Police Service that the administration would continue to recognise and reward hard work and outstanding performance.
